About TimerZen

Last reviewed on April 24, 2026

TimerZen is a free collection of browser-based countdown timers. The site exists to give anyone a quick, reliable way to time a moment — a focus block, a meditation session, a workout interval, a cup of tea — without installing an app, creating an account, or wading through ads, pop-ups, or upsells.

Who the site serves

TimerZen is built for readers who want a timer that just works. That includes:

What the site covers

TimerZen publishes two kinds of pages:

Editorial approach

Guides on TimerZen are written to be practical and accurate. They draw on widely published productivity methods and general information about meditation and focus practices. Where a topic touches health, fitness, or clinical subjects, the site sticks to general, well-established information and does not present itself as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.

Content is reviewed periodically. If something is outdated, unclear, or wrong, readers can flag it via the contact page and it will be looked at.

How the timers work

Every timer runs entirely in your browser using standard web technology. Nothing is uploaded to a server when you start, pause, or reset a countdown. The only data stored locally is a simple preference remembering whether you muted the end-of-timer sound. Closing the tab clears any running state.

When a timer finishes, the page plays a short audio tone and can show a browser notification if you've granted permission. Both can be silenced with a click, a tap, or any keyboard key.

How the site is produced

TimerZen is an independent, privately operated website. The pages are hand-built static HTML, CSS, and a small amount of JavaScript — no account system, no tracking login, no third-party chat widgets. The site is supported by display advertising (see the privacy policy for details) so the timers and guides can stay free to use.

There is no paid tier, no "pro" upgrade, and no newsletter gate. The goal is the opposite: open the page, press start, get back to what you were doing.
