12 Minute Timer
Keyboard shortcuts: Spacebar = Start/Pause | R = Reset
About this twelve minute timer
This twelve-minute countdown runs entirely in your browser. Common for stretching routines, reading sprints, or short concentrated tasks. There is nothing to install, nothing to sign up for, and no data is uploaded when you start, pause, or reset.
A twelve-minute timer is a useful middle ground. It is long enough to finish a small task, stretch properly, or ease into a meditation, but short enough that your attention is unlikely to drift. Many people use this length for reading a chapter, drafting an email, or clearing a portion of an inbox.
If you are timing a break, try to do something that does not involve another screen: walk around, drink water, look out a window. If you are timing work, pick one task before pressing start and do not switch until the countdown finishes.
How to use this timer
- Press Start (or the spacebar) to begin the countdown.
- Press Pause (or the spacebar again) to hold the current time.
- Press Reset (or the R key) to return to 12:00.
- When the timer ends, a short tone plays. Click, tap, or press any key to stop it.
- Use the sound toggle to mute the alert — your preference is remembered on this device.
Tips for accurate timing
- Keep this tab visible. Modern browsers slow down background tabs to save power, which can delay the end alert.
- On mobile, keep the screen awake or plug the device in for long sessions.
- For anything safety-critical, use your device's built-in system timer rather than a web page.
